Troubleshooting the "My Computer" Feature Not Appearing or Connecting

Discover troubleshooting resolutions with the "My Computer" feature

Updated today

Resolve common issues about the "My Computer" feature.

The "My Computer" feature is a powerful capability of the Manus Desktop App that allows the Manus AI agent to execute command line instructions (CLI) in your computer's terminal, enabling it to read, analyze, and edit local files, and even launch applications.

However, you might occasionally encounter issues where the feature does not appear or fails to connect properly. This guide addresses the most common troubleshooting scenarios reported by our users.

1. Using the Correct Application Version

The most common reason users cannot find the "My Computer" feature is due to using an incorrect version of the application. The feature is exclusively available in the official Manus Desktop App.

If you are using the web-based platform (manus.im) through a browser, the "My Computer" feature will not be visible. You must download and install the dedicated desktop application.

Solution: Ensure you have downloaded the official installer from https://manus.im/desktop. Once installed, sign into your account, click "My computer", and add the local folders you'd like Manus to work with.

2. Platform Compatibility Limitations

The Manus Desktop App has specific system requirements. If your system does not meet these requirements, the app may fail to launch, crash on startup, or the "My Computer" feature may be disabled.

If you receive an "Application not supported on this Mac" error, you are likely using an Intel-based Mac or an incompatible macOS version. We are actively working on expanding our compatibility, but currently, there are no workarounds for unsupported systems. Users on these platforms are encouraged to use the web-based version at https://manus.im as a temporary alternative.
