Chatting with Manus Agent on Slack: Channels, DMs, and File Delivery

Understand how to chat with Manus in Slack channels vs. DMs.

Updated today

Manus Agent for Slack offers two distinct ways to interact with the AI agent, depending on whether you are working collaboratively with your team or managing your own personal tasks.

Manus supports a wide range of input methods and delivers results in various formats, ensuring you can communicate in whatever way is most convenient for your workflow.

Channel Mentions (@Manus) vs. Direct Messages (DM)

Channel Mentions (@Manus): If you are working collaboratively on a shared project, you can mention @Manus directly within any public or private Slack channel where the bot has been added. When you use a channel mention, the entire team can see the request you made and the subsequent results provided by Manus. This mode is ideal for shared tasks and transparent workflows. This will create a new task under the person who tagged @Manus first.

Direct Messages (DM): Alternatively, you can send a Direct Message (DM) directly to the Manus Bot for private, one-on-one assistance. When you interact with Manus via Direct Message, these conversations are treated differently than standard tasks. DM conversations are automatically routed to the "Agents" section within your Manus dashboard interface. Importantly, tasks initiated via DM do not appear in your general "Past Tasks" list in Manus, keeping your personal interactions separate.
